LAKE NAKURU is one of the lakes in the Great Rift Valley. It is an alkaline lake that is home to about 1 million flamingos.It is located south of Nakuru in central Kenya and is protected by a national park.
Lake Nakuru National Park was established in 1967 and covers an area of 188 km2. It is located at an altitude of 1,758 meters. More than 400 species of birds live there, there are also black rhinoceroses (which were reintroduced after having disappeared), lions, leopards and many herbivores such as the Rothschild’s giraffe, gazelles and hippos.
